THE explosion at a Surveyor Street home, which left an 18-year-old man suffering burns to 80 per cent of his body, is not being treated as suspicious.

Queanbeyan Police Inspector Tony Hill said a crime scene examination was currently being carried out this morning following what they believe was a gas explosion at about 10pm on Thursday, December 4.
“The line of inquiry police have taken is that [the explosion] was an accidental ignition,” he said.
“We don’t believe there were any suspicious circumstances; we believe there were accidental causes which led to the explosion.”
Insp. Hill confirmed the young man was still in a critical condition after he was airlifted to Concord Hospital.
Police were called to the Queanbeyan home after a loud explosion was reported.
On arrival, they found a 18-year-old man suffering severe burns.
The man was treated at the scene by NSW Ambulance paramedics, before being taken to Canberra Hospital. He is now at Concord Hospital.
Police said there were no other reports of injury.
