Police are investigating the circumstances leading up to an explosion which has left a man in a critical condition in Queanbeyan on Thursday evening.

Just after 10pm, officers attached to Monaro Local Area Command were called to a home on Surveyor Street, following reports of a loud explosion.
On arrival, police located an 18-year-old man suffering burns to approximately 80% of his body.
The man was treated at the scene by Ambulance Paramedics, before being taken to Canberra Hospital in a critical condition. He is expected to be airlifted to Concord Hospital.
Police have received no other reports of injury.
A crime scene has been established and following initial investigations, it’s believed the incident may have been caused by a gas explosion.
