It was the home team’s third straight defeat for the season, and Yowies players Sebastian Kouw, James Lee and Jono Miller heaped on the misery through their respective contributions of 28, 17, and 14 points.
A true contest from the outset, Queanbeyan had their hands full and led by a mere two points going into the first break at 26-24, and Yowies playing coach Jono Miller said Bathurst had improved from a string of dismal seasons in the past to present a real challenge.
“They had a couple of young kids to to tell you the truth,” Miller said.
“A 16-year-old and a 17-year-old really got them going earlier on and we just went toe-to-toe in the end, we couldn’t get stops, we were scoring and they were scoring.
“It was really in the third quarter when we turned it around and we got some stops and we kept getting baskets, which was really good to see.”
