QUEANBEYAN Police wish to speak to a man seen in the vicinity of a fire that broke out around the area of Lochiel Street, and River Drive, Karabar on Wednesday evening.

Fire and Rescue NSW and the Rural Fire Service were call out the location about 8.30pm on Wednesday, January 7 and extinguished the small fire.
An area of grassland beside the river had been burnt but no one was injured and there was no damage to private property.
Police wish to speak with a man seen in the area immediately before the fire was found.
The man is described as Caucasian, 30 to 40 years of age and approximately 185 cm tall.
At the time he was wearing black lace up boots, black trousers or jeans, a black long sleeved shirt or jacket, a black leather hat, dark rimmed glasses and was carrying a backpack.
Police would like to remind the public that this is currently the bush fire danger period, and that the potential for major fires is quite high. The public need to be vigilant for fires and for people loitering in areas where fires commonly occur.
