Recently membership numbers had been as low as 12, but the club was able to register its 19th member on Wednesday, and is hoping to continue its upward trend.
Club secretary Ruth Blunden, who has been involved with the club for 15 years, said numbers fluctuated depending on the time of year and what types of events were happening, but said croquet was a sport with something for everyone.
"It is the only sport where opposite sexes always play together," Blunden said.
"There is a lot of friendship at our club, and the evening air in the warmer months is great to play in."
Queanbeyan mayor Tim Overall helped cut the birthday cake at the clubhouse.
The club is currently in search of more sponsorship and members.
