Meet Queanbeyan Blues masters players Ben Hobson and Adam Hunter, two Queanbeyan Blues coaches who have been involved with the club for over 20 years now and have put together a 'masters' rugby league team.
And while it may have been just as long since they were at their playing prime, all they want to do is run around the footy field again with a team of fellow middle-aged men.
"It's all about community outreach and getting people involved with the club," said Hunter.
"You don't even have to have played at all before. We're looking for any bloke 35 years or older to jump on board and just have some fun."
Hobson and Hunter have so far put a list of over 20 players together, most of whom are past Blues players, but some are also brand new to the club.
And it is hoped that their efforts in establishing a masters team will catch on with other clubs to eventually form a local competition with their division.
"We would love to see all the other clubs around the Canberra region get on board, because while there is a few already, we need more to be able to form a competition," said Hobson.
"It wouldn't be one game every weekend like the normal competitions, one game a month or so would be great, but at the moment we don't have any local competitions in place."
The team is still in its infancy, and any form of competition would not start until next year, but the men are already training ahead of the national masters tournament on the Gold Coast in March next year.
At the moment the Valley Dragons, South Tuggeranong Knights, Tuggeranong Buffaloes, Woden Rams, West Belconnen Warriors, Yass Magpies, Goulburn Bulldogs and Grenfell have formed masters teams.
