Brent Harvey to play on at North Melbourne in 2015

Harvey, who has played 378 games, could even break Michael Tucks’ record of 426 games. "If I look too far ahead, I won’t play good footy. If I do that, that will take care of himself."

What role Harvey will play on the field next season hasn't yet been decided, but Harvey was open to new possibilities.

"My role may not be to play every game. It may be to sub. There’s a lot of scenarios now in football and whatever my role is, I’ll play it."

Harvey, 36, said playing on was an easy decision to reach and he wanted to continue to play as long as his body can keep up with other players and demands from the game.

"I walk into Brad’s (Scott) office and make sure he thinks I’m still contributing to the football club and I can contribute next year as well. As soon as he gives me the thumbs up, that’s my signal."

North Melbourne director of football Geoff Walsh said Harvey was at the top of his game and proved to be one of the club’s most valuable players.

"He’s in great form... he continues to get an asset to this footy club on and off the field," he said.

"It’s a great achievement for him and we’re delighted he’s agreed to terms."

Harvey, who has been lucky to avoid too many serious injuries during his long career, said he feels like he’s 30-years-old and he was confident he can keep his playing standard high going into his 37th year.

"Age is not a factor. I go out and love playing the game, love training with the boys, I’m really passionate about it. Obviously I love the football club and I go out there and I perform (and) prepare really well."

Walsh said he’s confident Harvey will pull plenty of votes in the club’s best and fairest, which would be his sixth if he wins.
