The win comes after two smashings against Sydney sides in the opening two rounds when their youth appeared to struggle. But the tides turned today, with young guns Levi Power, Jarrod Atkinson and Toby Konroy excelling perfectly for the home side.
A second quarter 8-goal blitz to the Queanbeyan Tigers had seen them take an 11.11.77 to 5.5.35 half time lead, and the Magpies never looked threatening from there.
While numerous rookie errors from the also previously win-less Belconnen Magpies helped their cause, the vision from the home side, especially in their mid-field, was been outstanding.
They doubled inside-50 possessions over the visitors, and their centre bounce clearances, dominated by ruckman Nathan Kerlin, saw them take total control.
Two goals a piece to Toby Richards, Brett Fruend and Matthew Bernasconi refelected the dominance of the effort and the even spread of committment on the field.
Toby Conroy came up with numerous assists, and along with fellow mid-fielder Jarrod Atkinson, starred in the effort.
Co-coaches Kade Klemke and Josh Bryce were both proud of the boys but know there is still a long way to go in the season.
Bryce himself did not play due to a niggling lower leg injury, but said his young guns did the job today.
"We just needed to look at our structure and keep pushing forward, and I'm really proud of the way the guys did that," he said.
They face Aspley at home again at 12pm next Saturday.
