QUEANBEYAN Police made two arrests and seized a large quantity of drugs after executing a number of search warrants in Queanbeyan on Wednesday and Thursday morning.

A 53-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman were arrested after officers attached to the Drug Unit and Queanbeyan Police executed a warrant on a Carrington Street address just after 10am on Wednesday.
Police allegedly found $3000 worth of methlyamphetamine and OxyContin as well as drug paraphernalia, a .22 calibre pen gun, ammunition and an amount of cash according to Queanbeyan Police inspector Neil Grey.
Police also seized two diamond pythons, a number of other prohibited weapons including an electronic control device similar to a TASER, knives and a number of personal items.
The 32-year-old woman was charged with possessing a prohibited drug, two counts of supplying a prohibited drug and four counts of possessing a prohibited weapon without a licence.
She was also charged with knowingly allowing use of a drug premises, failing to ensure safe keeping of a prohibited weapon, possessing protected fauna and not keeping firearms safe.
The 53-year-old man was charged with five counts of possessing a prohibited drug, two counts of possessing items suspected of being stolen and possessing an unauthorised firearm.
He was also charged with three counts of not keeping a firearm safe, possession ammunition without holding a licence, possessing a prohibited weapon without a permit and knowingly allowing use of a drug premises.
Both were bail refused to appear before Queanbeyan Local Court on Monday, October 28.
Queanbeyan Police then executed further search warrants on two addresses in Wilgabar Way, Queanbeyan at about 7am, Thursday morning.
“As a result of executing that warrant, police seized 19 cannabis plants, 10 of which were being grown hydroponically,” Inspector Grey said.
“An occupier was present at the time the warrant was executed and investigations are ongoing at this time.”
No charges have yet been laid in relation to the cannabis seizure.
The current street value of a mature cannabis plant is about $3000 or $2000 for an immature plant.
In all three cases, Inspector Grey said police executed the search warrants on the basis of information received from the public.
