There's Midnight Oil, INXS, AC/DC, Cold Chisel and the queen herself, Kylie Minogue, just to name a few.
Well, Rolling Stone has embraced the 'Power and the Passion' of Aussie music by ranking the 200 greatest Australian albums of all time.
It's a lofty list - but in it's rightful place in the number one spot is AC/DC's Back in Black.
She might not be wearing black, but someone who could soon be making a political comeback is former NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison has backed the idea of Berejiklian taking a run at federal politics.
The PM even said she would be a welcome addition to the federal Liberal team if she decided to run.
Berejiklian resigned earlier this year after it was announced that she would be investigated by anti-corruption watchdog, ICAC.
Morrison himself is facing increased pressure to establish a federal anti-corruption body.
Former Commonwealth Ombudsman Michael Manthorpe said it was an important oversight mechanism to establish, and soon.
"I hope that the current debate results in a strong, effective, fair and enduring integrity system that builds public trust in institutions," he said.
However, it's not just the debate around a federal ICAC that the PM is fending off - the opposition has launched its election campaign promising, among other things, to target Morrison's "pathological problem with the truth".
Labor's deputy party leader Richard Marles called Morrison "a character from a low-rent, late-night commercial" and "a liar".
That sure sounds like fighting words to me.
A different kind of battle is brewing in NSW - the fight to stay on top of the recent Omicron COVID-19 outbreak.
NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant says cases are "expected to rise" after the state recorded 25 cases of the new variant.
And the Northern Territory is still battling its own COVID outbreak with a toddler testing positive for the virus today.
So let's hope it's only Christmas cheer that people will be spreading for the rest of this year.
