New Zealand's Steven Alker has shot a six-under 65 to build a four-shot lead going into the final round of the PGA Tour Champions season-ending Charles Schwab Cup Championship.

Alker began Saturday tied for the lead with American Marco Dawson who fell away with a 74 as the Kiwi surged to 17-under 196.
Germany's Alex Cejka (68) is in second place with Thailand's Thongchai Jaidee (69) and Padraig Harrington (69) a shot further back in a tie for third.
Australia's Richard Green started the third round two shots from the lead but posted a 71 to be tied 11th and eight shots off the pace.
At stake for Alker is a $US1 million payoff on Sunday - first prize is $US528,000, among the largest payoffs on the PGA Tour Champions, along with a $US500,000 bonus for finishing second in the Charles Schwab Cup points race.
Steve Stricker long ago clinched the Schwab Cup with his six victories this year, three of them majors. He didn't play in the postseason and had planned to play in Phoenix until his father was hospitalised in Wisconsin.
Stricker said his father was released from the hospital on Saturday.
