Premier Daniel Andrews unveiled his new-look frontbench on Saturday and crowned Jacinta Allan as deputy premier, the second woman to take the post in Victoria's history.

Former deputy premier James Merlino, health minister Martin Foley, jobs minister Martin Pakula and police minister Lisa Neville all stepped down from cabinet on Friday, along with retiring planning minister Richard Wynne, prompting the reshuffle.

Their replacements Sonya Kilkenny, Lizzie Blandthorn, Steve Dimopoulos, Harriet Shing and Colin Brooks will be sworn in by Governor Linda Dessau in a ceremony at Government House on Monday.

Mr Brooks will become child protection and family services minister and minister for disability, ageing and carers, while Ms Blandthorn takes on the planning portfolio and role of the party's lower house leader.

Mr Dimopoulos has secured Mr Pakula's plum role of tourism, sport and major events minister as well creative industries minister, and Ms Kilkenny steps into the position of minister for corrections, youth justice, victim support and fishing and boating.

Ms Shing, a long-time parliamentary secretary, takes on the portfolios of water, regional development and equality.

Outgoing agriculture minister Mary-Anne Thomas will take over as health minister - the state's fourth in as many years - while Natalie Hutchins will officially exchange the corrections round for education.

Other notable ministry changes include Ms Allan overseeing a newly created portfolio to oversee the delivery of the 2026 Commonwealth Games and the renaming of the aboriginal affairs cabinet position to "minister for treaty and first peoples".
