"Our services include not only delivering meals to clients at home but we play an important role in ensuring vulnerable clients receive a welfare check and an opportunity for a social chat with our volunteers," she said.
"This can sometimes be their only contact with others that they have on a regular basis.
"Our services are undertaken by our wonderful volunteers, who give up their time to provide this essential community service.
"We are classified as an essential service over the Covid lockdown period so clients can be reassured that we will continue to deliver meals to them."
She further said that with the COVID-19 restrictions in place, it is even more important to ensure that Meals on Wheels clients stay connected and have social contact and interaction.

The organisation is set to mark National Meals on Wheels Day on August 25. It is celebrated every year on the last Wednesday in August.
