Queanbeyan Civic and Cultural Precinct underway: On July 28, the first sod was turned on the Queanbeyan Civic and Cultural Precinct officially commencing this $74m project. This new precinct will provide linkages to The Q and the Bicentennial Hall and draw together a new library, public domain for civic events, conference meeting rooms and facilities, as well as create new basement car parking and provide a new head office for council staff. The building will also have room for tenants including the Southern Headquarters, Department of Regional NSW. While some parking spaces will be lost during the construction period, and temporary pedestrian access put in place, the project will ultimately deliver an increase of more than 60 parking spaces in the area. The funding structure for the build involves a long-term fixed interest loan with principal and interest payments being offset by lease income, income from surplus property sales, merger and efficiency savings.

Local Government Elections POSTPONED: On July 24, the NSW Government announced the local government elections would be postponed until December 4, 2021. The change was made due to COVID-19 and the resulting Public Health Orders impacting Greater Sydney. Candidate nominations now open on October 25, 2021 and close on November 3, 2021. A new timeline of key dates is available on the NSW Electoral Commission Website along with an FAQ on the changes and what they mean for candidates and electoral staff. Adoption of the Mount Jerrabomberra Site Specific Plan of Management. Approval for temporary use of the forecourt at 88 Wallace Street, Braidwood for a 'Sustainability Garage' on Saturdays from September 2021 - February 2022 with $500 towards costs of insurance provided by Council.
