Just before 5pm (Sunday, July 18), officers attached to Monaro Traffic and Highway Patrol were conducting speed enforcement as part of Operation Snowsafe, when they detected a Mercedes sedan allegedly travelling 160km/h in a 100km/h zone.
Police pulled the car over and spoke with the 23-year-old provisional driver.
The ACT man was issued with Traffic Infringement Notice for exceeding the speed limit by more than 45km/h, which carries a $2547 fine and six demerit points.
His licence was also suspended in NSW for six months and the Mercedes was impounded for three months, with the driver to pay towing and storage costs.
