Community Resilience Plan Meetings: Initial Resilience Plan meetings were held early this year in Braidwood, Nerriga, Araluen, Gundillion and Majors Creek. The Disaster Recovery Hub will host further meetings in August to add to, then start to enact these plans. The aim of the Community Resilience Plans is to create a community owned and lead approach to disaster recovery. The workshops are open to everyone in the community and all voices are needed to make the best possible plan. Dates for these workshops will be released soon. If you are interested and want to find out more contact the Disaster Recover Hub through recovery@qprc.nsw.gov.au or call 6285 6789.
Greenwaste changes for Araluen and Majors Creek: Greenwaste will no longer be accepted at Majors Creek and Araluen Bin compounds from Monday, August 16, 2021. This change is designed to reduce fire and environmental risk at the bin compounds. The change in service is also reflected in the General Waste Charge reduction for the area. From August 16 residents are encouraged to take their greenwaste to the Braidwood Waste Transfer Station at no cost. For more information on the change see here or contact Council's Waste section on 1300 735 025.
Towards 2042 - online community engagement: The Towards 2042 community engagement project will inform Council's new Community Strategic Plan. During July and August, we will be engaging with a wide cross-section of the community to get an understanding of what the community wants to see in the future, and also what they currently like about our community. We had planned to meet with the community face-to-face, however due to COVID, our approach will now feature an online community engagement workshop on Wednesday July 28, 2021 between 10am and 1pm. If you are interested in attending, please register through here. If you are unable to make the online community engagement session, but would like to contribute please complete the online survey by 13 August online or grab a hard copy survey from any of our offices and return by July 31.
