The work on the Queanbeyan Civic and Cultural Precinct is expected to begin soon and safety measures are being put in place by ADCO Constructions.
The council had appointed ADCO Constructions to finalise the design and construct the Queanbeyan Civic and Cultural Precinct in March 2021 council meeting.

"ADCO's procurement has been planned with significant local content however as with all construction projects materials and labour may be required from outside the region.
"ADCO are reviewing their construction management plans and COVID response protocols to ensure that a proactive approach is taken with site management. Project plans are being adapted to ensure they are in line with NSW Health regulations."
The $74.85m project is expected to be completed by end of 2022.
Mayor Tim Overall said that the Queanbeyan Civic and Cultural Precinct is the catalyst for the transformation of the Queanbeyan CBD.
The redevelopment of the council's old administration building is an important part of the council's CBD Transformation Strategy. Currently, council staff are currently housed in 11 buildings across the CBD.
The concept design includes:
- two towers (3 and 5 levels above ground and mezzanine)
- connections to Bicentennial Hall and improved access to The Q theatre
- approximately 6500m2 public realm
- approximately 1450m2 community space
- 2050m2 commercial space
- 4000m2 council administration, including shopfront, public library space (integrating service desk and staff areas into head office)
- meeting rooms and break-out spaces (for receptions and conference)
- space for government offices (sold as strata)
- lettable commercial space (available initially for rental return, then for future growth)
- gallery connecting office building to Bicentennial Hall and Q Theatre
- approximately 100 car-space office and public basement parking
- rooftop garden
