Order of Australia Awards: Congratulations to the Order of Australia Awards recipients. These awards recognise Australians who have demonstrated outstanding service or exceptional achievement in their communities and on a national level. Dr Belinda Jones, from Braidwood, was awarded a Member of the order of Australia for her significant service to animal welfare, science and advocacy. Two residents from QPRC were awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia. Mrs Lyn Fuller, from Googong, for her service to music and Ms Hannah Louise Wandel, from Queanbeyan, for service to women's affairs and the community. These residents are inspiring to our communities and contribute to making our region one of the best in the country.

Extraordinary Meeting of Council: There will be an Extraordinary Meeting of Council on 30 June to consider the adoption of the operational plan, revenue policy, fees and charges and QPRC waste strategy. The meeting will begin at 5.30pm and the agenda and business papers for the meeting will be available on the Friday prior to the meeting here. As usual the meeting will be live streamed here.
Free anti-theft screws and ice scrapers: As part of our crime prevention initiatives council staff and Monaro Police will be at Bungendore IGA 9-11am Friday, June 25. Residents can drop in and have their number plates secured with anti-theft screws while they shop. You can also pick up a free ice scraper to improve safety on our roads this winter. This is the second event in this series and another event will be advertised soon. Updates will be posted on our Facebook page and in our eNewsletter.
NAIDOC Week 2021: As part of NAIDOC Week there will be a range of activities at Riverside Plaza as well as a variety of other events to support and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Activities at Riverside Plaza will be running during the school holidays and include native bush tucker and tastings, arts and crafts that can be taken home, traditional Dreamtime stories and information about artefacts and Bogong moths.
