The Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council, in Wednesday's council meeting, took the decision to award the contract to one of the three companies that had made the submissions.
The car park aims to provide additional parking in town with 50 spaces, including three disabled and two electric vehicle charging stations.

The total cost of the project is estimated to be $1,660,000, which also includes the cost of tender and installation of a toilet block.
As part of the project, trees will be planted and it will also have the capacity to hold markets as well.
The project has been in the pipeline for a long time. Community consultations were held by the council in 2019 and after concerns were raised, alterations to the original designs were made.
Opposition to the construction of car park was made by some local property and business owners who were concerned about the loss of green space in the town centre.
In the October 2020 meeting, the council decided to proceed with an amended design to address those concerns and include planting more trees and landscaping to provide shade and amenity. The car park will have CCTV and smart lighting as well.
Vehicles and pedestrians will be able to access it from Ellendron Street while pedestrians will be able to also access it from Malbon Street.
A nod to awarding the tender was given at the Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council's meeting on May 26. The final decision was made after the tenderers were assessed by an evaluation panel.
