Repairs, reseals, resheeting and regular rehabilitation will all realise a renewed focus on roads in the region, as Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council gets set to deliver more than $70 million in road works and repairs.

Since late 2019 the region has been hit with many setbacks through natural disasters such as drought, fire and floods. Many local roads have been impacted.
Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council Mayor, Cr Tim Overall said he was extremely pleased to announce more than $47 million has been committed to the repair of local roads affected by the 2019-20 bushfires and two significant recent flood events in the past nine months.
"Council receives a lot of representations from members of the community in regard to the roads they drive on every day and their desires to see them improved," he said.
"Council also shares those aspirations to have great roads, but with more than 1,000km of sealed roads and more than 750km of unsealed roads in our local region, funding and resources are often stretched fairly thin, especially while responding to disasters.
"But we are extremely pleased to announce that more than $47 million has been committed by government for disaster recovery in our local area and that funding will help repair an extensive list of roads across the region, primarily around Bungendore and Braidwood and surrounds."
The disaster funding is in addition to $10 million committed by the NSW Government for upgrades to Captains Flat Road; a further $7.2 million for Nerriga Road which has already had around $30 million committed to continuing upgrades; more than $7 million in upcoming local bridge projects; and around $3 million in routine road reseals, rehabilitation and maintenance.
"I was very pleased to see the Federal Government Budget include an additional $1 billion investment to go to Phase 3 of the Local Roads and Community Infrastructure program to further support local councils deliver priority projects. We look forward to being able to access some of those funds to allow us to provide the roads our community deserve," the Mayor said.
At the beginning of each month the council publishes a grading schedule indicating which roads are scheduled for grading in the upcoming month and which roads have been recently completed. The frequency of grading each road is determined by its category within Council's Unsealed Road Maintenance - Grading Policy.
