We will have the initial results from our survey of the community to share and discuss with those who attend. We will also have a presentation on a small park in Weston, showing how it has been transformed by a dedicated group of locals, and Evoenergy are coming to speak to us about the gas five-year plan consultation.
We welcome the relief that the rain has brought to our region and are hopeful that everyone has benefited from this. It is a vast change from the bushfires and the smoke of recent months that we have all endured.
Hooning
Council has written to the Minister for Police and the Minister for Road Safety in relation to "hooning" on our local roads. This is one of the first findings from our survey. The letters are on our website and we will publish the responses when we receive them.
ACAT and Zapari
Council has joined this ACAT matter as a party which was brought by the developer, Zapari, against ACTPLA in relation to its proposed development in Coombs. Your committee is certainly gaining experience by being a party to this matter.
Transport System
A revised timetable and network for the transport system was announced recently by the minister and we are looking at what this means for our residents. More Park and Ride parking is proposed at Kirkpatrick Street, which is welcomed. There will also be a new stop on Bielski Street in Denman Prospect to service the new school being built there. Transport Canberra will be attending our public meeting on March 25 to outline the changes and listen to comments and questions.
New School in Denman Prospect
There is a new school being built in Denman Prospect and the first stage, a primary school for 644 pupils from pre-school to year 6, will be open for the 2021 year. Stage two will be a high school for years 7 to 10 that will open in 2023 and cater for 600 pupils.
Trennery Square
We have again met with officials from TCCS and spoken of the need to make changes to the square to make it more attractive and inviting to our residents so that it will be used more. We will update you when we get a response to our thoughts and requests on this.
The "Old AFP Site"
ACTPLA has refused the Village Building Co's development application for the site in Weston. There are a number of reasons and the decision is on our website.
