The Australasian Scooter Association's third ACT Scooter Championship will be held at the Woden Skatepark on February 8.
The sport is developing nationally and internationally, with recognised tricks and skills and competitions occurring regularly in major skateparks.
"Scootering is a great activity for kids to build confidence and have fun," said Fiona Carrick, president of the Woden Valley Community Council.
"There are many benefits to riding a scooter - it gets kids outside exercising and building strength while they socialise.
"The competitors are very talented and the flips they do are awesome.
"There will be a barbecue at the event so bring along a chair and enjoy the fun."
The competition provides an opportunity for scooter enthusiasts to pursue rankings, with the top 10 advancing to the National Titles. From the National Titles, riders can then advance to the World Titles.
Local businesses, The Bank Indoor Skate Park and Straight Ski and Scuba will support the event, with the ASA, on the day.
Age groups include 7u, 10u, 12u, 13u, 14u, 15u, 14u Girls, 16u, Open boys, Open girls, Pro Women, Pro Men.
Registrations will close a few days before the event so register now at https://www.revolutionise.com.au/asa/register/ and be at the Woden Skatepark at 9am on February 8.
