There's a new, commitment-free tennis program for adults coming to the Queanbeyan Park Tennis Club from 7pm on Tuesday, February 6 and 13.
The club is introducing Open Court Sessions which is a new social tennis initiative allowing players of all abilities to get back into tennis or to start it for the first time.
The 90 minute session which requires no experience aims to have participants embracing casual tennis in a relaxed format.
The evening is made up of an hour of on court time for swinging, slamming and smiling and 30 minutes of off court activities with food, drinks, and a great soundtrack pumping through the evening.
Queanbeyan Park Tennis Club president Kathy Sly said she is excited to launch the new social tennis offering and are looking forward to engaging with the local community to provide a fun fitness alternative.
"Open Court Sessions is for anyone who has ever thought 'I love tennis, I used to play' or 'I want to play tennis again, I just don't have anyone to play with'," Sly said.
"This is a solution that allows for all styles of play, all levels and all ages for every person.
"The sessions provides a fun option to get back into the sport where the social side is just as important as the on court activities.
"Tennis is a much loved sport in Australia and research has shown there are a huge number of ex-tennis players who would be keen to pick up a racquet again but haven't felt they could."
The club will provide racquets and balls for those who do not have gear or equipment
The cost for each session is $20.
