The best news is it was a cracking start and many managed to capitalise on fish.
Very hard to say what type of lures dominated the weekend as everything produced the goods.
Some of the bigger fish were landed very early Sunday morning off surface and swim baits, but once the sun was up hard bodies and spinnerbaits excelled.
I personally hit up the river on Tuesday and worked a few pools with a black and orange Last Cast Spinnerbait; I was working the lure in a stop and hop motion with gentle lifts of my rod, then re-casting the same line with a speedy retrieve.
This method has worked well for me in the 'Bidgee and on this night I was smashed at my feet by an extremely fat, PB trout cod. It has been really good to see lots getting amongst the cod.
Ginninderra also fished quite well for little cod taking surface lures off Emu Bank.
Lake Burley Griffin was a little hard - amazing, as plenty have been getting caught in the MEJ's Big Burley Bash Comp while chasing yellows (typical, isn't it).
MEJ's Big Burley Bash wrapped up on Thursday in some below average conditions. Jake Junakovic and Michael Kochy taking out first prize and a pay cheque of $1500. Team DMV in second and Roped In taking third.
Huge thanks to all sponsors and anglers for taking part in another tough comp.
