Braidwood Waste Transfer Station: The new Braidwood Waste Transfer Station opens on Friday, November 15. It will be open Fridays 1-4pm, Saturdays and Sundays 10am-4.30pm and Mondays 1-4pm. The transfer station will allow the separation of waste types and acts as a staging point for waste that is then taken to a final disposal or recycling site. There have been a number of questions from the community about the new transfer station and an FAQ page is available on our website. Follow the links to Waste Transfer Stations from www.qprc.nsw.gov.au/waste
Mick Sherd Oval change rooms: The new change rooms at Bungendore's Mick Sherd Oval are progressing well, with the building painted and internal fit-out underway and due to be complete over the next few weeks. The project includes two large change rooms, six showers, four toilets, two strapping rooms and an all-abilities bathroom. This facility has been funded by the NSW Government under the Stronger Country Communities Fund.
Riverside Tourist Park: Progress is being made in the Riverside Tourist Park, with last week seeing 100 metres of footpath beginning to be poured. The footpath will connect the Queanbeyan River Walk through to Queen Elizabeth II Park. Work is also being done on power, water and sewer connections around the park, improving access to water for each caravan site in the upgraded facility. A new entrance will be constructed to make it easier for patrons to enter the facility and reduce the impact on traffic on Morisset Street.
Queanbeyan Civic and Cultural Precinct: We set up a pop-up stall in Riverside Plaza last week to show passers-by the plans for the new Queanbeyan Civic and Cultural Precinct. These plans will also be on the agenda at our upcoming community meetings (November 19 in Braidwood, November 26 in Queanbeyan and December 3 in Bungendore) and we are interested in the community's feedback on the concept designs and business case. The precinct will be at 257 Crawford Street, Queanbeyan and will provide a link between council offices, The Q and the Bicentennial Hall. The preferred option includes basement parking, public green space, commercial lettable space, and a fully-accessible library on the mezzanine level.
