Spot Joe Rider and win: As part of Motorcycle Awareness Week, if you spot motorcyclists wearing high-vis "Joe Rider NSW" vests on our roads you could win fuel vouchers. Once you reach your destination, log your sighting on our website at www.qprc.nsw.gov.au/joe-rider to go into the draw. The research shows that being aware of motorcycle riders goes a long way toward ensuring that they stay safe. This campaign is running until October 27. There will be riders in and around Queanbeyan, Bungendore and Braidwood including riders from the motorcycle training centre, Stay Upright, during their training rides.

Arts Trail: This weekend sees the first of two big weekends for our highly anticipated annual arts trail. Now in its 13th year, the arts trail is split over two weekends - the Queanbeyan/Bungendore area on October 19-20 and the Braidwood area on October 26-27. This year's event features 32 artist studios and workshops across the region opening their doors to the community. You can find a useful online map that pinpoints all the participating studios and helps you plan your itinerary at www.qprc.nsw.gov.au/arts-trail. There's also booklets to download that profile all of this year's participants. You can also pick up hard copies of the booklets from QPRC libraries.
Garage Sale Trail: On October 19-20 the national Garage Sale Trail is being held. You can help reduce the amount of stuff we send to landfill by shopping the Garage Sale Trail and picking up some still useful items other people no longer want or need. There's 87 locals registered across our region. You can find all the sale sites by going to www.garagesaletrail.com.au/Queanbeyan-Palerang
October Events Guide: We are putting a great deal of effort into promoting Queanbeyan-Palerang as a tourist destination. Our Visit Queanbeyan-Palerang website produces a monthly events guide that's not just for tourists, but for locals as well. You can download the guide from www.visitqueanbeyanpalerang.com.au to find great things to see and do in our region. Discover your undiscovered around Braidwood, Bungendore and Queanbeyan.
October Planning and Strategy Meeting: Last week's meeting of the Planning and Strategy Committee had to be cancelled because the number of apologies meant we did not have a quorum. All items from the meeting have been moved to the next Council meeting on October 23.
