How nice is spring? Just over a week of warm days in the 20s and it's turned on our local waterways.
Lake Ginninderra has been a very hot location this week; big schools of redfin have been very active and goldens are following very close.
I ventured out with a simple Mapp's spinner working around the lake edges and found countless fish (redfin) in the 15-25cm range.
After finding a location that produced a fish just about every second or third cast, I then switched lures to a ZX blade which I proceeded to slowly hop along the bottom.
This method has done me well across many NSW dams, and in Ginninderra it did not disappoint. Three small yellows under one school of reddies - pretty happy with that!
Lake Burley Griffin has also seen some improved conditions with this nice warm weather, and fingers crossed it keeps getting better for October 10 for the MEJ's Big Burley Bash.
Unfortunately, there has been a fair bit of illegal fishing so I urge all anglers - if you see something suss - get in contact with Access Canberra on 132281 and take pictures.
On the coast, the weather has been a little all over the shop, but on the right day, reefs are producing sizeable snapper and mowong.
Keep your eyes peeled for bird activity as kingfish and salmon schools have been busting up all over the place.
Estuary systems are starting to come to life with already some reports of a few whiting about in Durras Lake, which is super early.
The Basin is slowly starting to warm and yes the lizards (flatheads) have started to emerge.
