As the years roll on I've come to appreciate a couple of things in life. In particular, that our journey can be enriched through the benefits of connecting with nature.
The evidence is crystal clear and the tangible health benefits are so obvious.
Given our busy lives, sometimes we simply can't see the forest for the trees.

Living here in our beautiful bush capital there's really no excuse.
There are countless ways to connect with nature if you're adventurous at heart.
From a gentle walk along a meandering nature trail, pitching a tent under a million stars, witnessing a morning sunrise, to taking an invigorating dip in the majestic Murrumbidgee River, there is so much on offer.
One of my favourite ways to experience our region is by donning a bike helmet.
Living here all my life there's a feature of Canberra lifestyle that I've observed in recent times - the immensely popular pursuit of good old-fashioned bike riding.
A remarkable generation of bikes is now so easily obtainable. The range of bicycles is rather impressive to say the least.
But all bikes share a common link with my old Dragster; they can take you on an amazing two-wheel adventure.
Canberra is home to a strong, passionate and ever-growing mountain bike riding community.
Our region has a unique diversity of trails that cater for everyone, from professional mountain bike riders to first-time riders wanting to improve their cardio fitness.
Not only are we fortunate enough to have countless cycle paths and shared zones intersecting across our stunning city, our parks and reserves are waiting to be explored from the seat of a push bike.
We want you to share with us your quintessential bush capital bike riding experiences in our annual Spring Rides photo competition.
Imagination is your only limit.
Perhaps head out on a sunrise summit ride to Mt Ainslie, meander around Mulligans Flat or have a family fun picnic ride at Googong Foreshores.
The prize? Two nights accommodation at either Ready Cut Cottage or Nil Desperandum Homestead.
The competition is open until 5pm on September 29.
With spring in the air, why not put a spring in your step?
Saddle up for a bit of peddle power, as you get out and about exploring what the bush capital has to offer.
