One of my favourite ways to experience our region is by donning a bike helmet.
Living here all my life there's a feature of Canberra lifestyle that I've observed in recent times - the immensely popular pursuit of good old-fashioned bike riding.
A remarkable generation of bikes is now so easily obtainable. The range of bicycles is rather impressive to say the least.
But all bikes share a common link with my old Dragster; they can take you on an amazing two-wheel adventure.
Canberra is home to a strong, passionate and ever-growing mountain bike riding community.
Our region has a unique diversity of trails that cater for everyone, from professional mountain bike riders to first-time riders wanting to improve their cardio fitness.
Not only are we fortunate enough to have countless cycle paths and shared zones intersecting across our stunning city, our parks and reserves are waiting to be explored from the seat of a push bike.

Perhaps head out on a sunrise summit ride to Mt Ainslie, meander around Mulligans Flat or have a family fun picnic ride at Googong Foreshores.
The prize? Two nights accommodation at either Ready Cut Cottage or Nil Desperandum Homestead.
