My Community Project: We are sponsoring four projects under the NSW Government's My Community Project. All NSW residents (16 years and older) are able to vote for three to five projects in their electorate. You can vote in person at a Service NSW centre or online at mycommunityproject.service.nsw.gov.au. Only the projects with the most support will be funded. The four projects that council is sponsoring are the upgrade of the playground at the Jerrabomberra Community Centre, a multipurpose community centre at QPRC Aquatics Queanbeyan, a horse sculpture in Bungendore as part of a future Bungendore Sculpture Trail and a new children's playground at Royalla Common. There are a number of other worthy projects in our region and you are encouraged to have a look and vote for your favourites. Up to $260,000 is available for each electorate. Voting is open until August 15.

Citizenship Ceremony: One of the best things we get to do in local government is conduct citizenship ceremonies. This Thursday we will be holding one of the largest ceremonies we have had in recent times, with 84 people to become Australian citizens. We will be welcoming people born in 15 different countries as well as children born in Australia and we look forward to their contribution to our friendly, multi-cultural region.
Regional Art Awards: Entries for the Regional Art Awards are now open. This year we are inviting the region's newer artists to consider entering the awards, with the introduction of a $500 Emerging Artist Award. Entries in any medium including painting, sculpture, textiles, photography, drawing and ceramics are welcome. This year, sponsorship support has been offered from The Queanbeyan Hive, which will see one talented artist receiving an exhibition award valued at up to $1,500. Council sponsors the main award of $2,000, the People's Choice Award of $500 along with the Emerging Artist Award. Find all the details and an entry form on our website: www.qprc.nsw.gov.au.
