Lions Club Bookshop and Queanbeyan Christmas Cave
It was great to officially open two pop-up stores on Monaro Street, Queanbeyan.
As part of the council’s Places and Spaces initiative, which aims to revitalise under-utilised spaces, the Queanbeyan Leagues Club has offered the space free of charge for these shops.
The Queanbeyan Lions Club has opened a community bookshop and right next door is the Queanbeyan Christmas Cave, selling all sorts of Christmas accessories.
Check out the stores at 146 and 148 Monaro Street, Queanbeyan.
Captains Flat community facilities
Outdoor exercise equipment has been installed at Captains Flat as part of the Stronger Communities Fund project to upgrade community facilities.
The project has included planting of a fruit tree grove, new playground equipment, restoring a horse watering trough, and new bins and shelters.
The final aspect of the project is to paint the toilet block, with a mural artwork to be created.

Learner Driver Workshop for supervisors
Council will be teaming up with Queanbeyan High School to run a free workshop for parents and supervisors about helping learner drivers be safer drivers.
“The workshop gives supervisors the practical skills to increase their confidence in supervising a learner driver and improve their understanding of the licence conditions.”

The two-hour workshop gives supervisors the practical skills to increase their confidence in supervising a learner driver and improve their understanding of the licence conditions for learner and provisional drivers.
The workshop will be run on Wednesday, November 28, from 6pm at Queanbeyan High School and is open to everyone.
