The Queanbeyan District Hospital Maternity Unit has gained a piece of vital equipment thanks to the generosity of walkers, donors and organisers of the latest Walk 4 Babies event.

Organisers of the fundraising event presented the Maternity Unit with a neonatal monitor.
The monitor uses pulse oximetry, which measures blood oxygenation and heart rate, and is one of the most common respiratory monitoring techniques. Its non-invasive nature makes it ideal for use with babies and infants.
About 150 people walked five-kilometres around the park in Lowe Street in October last year, raising $5,000 through registrations and raffles, as well as a sausage sizzle and family fun activities during the morning.
The first 125 walkers received medallions from the Walk 4 Babies organisation as a memento of the day.
Andrea Daniels and her daughter Melissa de Ryck are the driving force behind the organisation and have been encouraged and supported by the Member for Monaro, John Barilaro MP.
Mrs Daniels said although she at first found it hard to get people involved, she was successful in gaining two sponsors in Mr Barilaro and the Monaro Panthers Football Club and an energetic hard-working committee of six.
Last year there were more than 600 babies born at the unit, matched by only one other hospital in NSW.
