Bungendore Floodplain
The council is currently seeking comments on the plans for the implementation of recommendations from the Bungendore Floodplain Risk Management Plan.
The scope of the flood minimisation measures include upgrading the existing Turallo Terrace levee, constructing an overflow channel across Tarago Road and removing dense vegetation and re-shaping the creek where Turallo, Halfway and Millpost Creeks meet.
There will be a drop-in session with representatives of Public Works Advisory in the Bungendore Council office foyer on Thursday, August 16 from 6.30-7pm. You can view the plans online and make comments at yourvoice.qprc.nsw.gov.au until August 16.
Braidwood Archaeological Management Plan
The consultants who are assisting to develop the Braidwood AMP will be in Braidwood on August 8-9.
We are currently in the discovery phase of this project and are seeking local knowledge from the community that could assist in the development of the AMP.
The AMP is considering historical data such as photographs, maps, government records, oral recordings and heritage studies.

Australian Poetry Slam
The Queanbeyan Library is hosting a “Wordshop” with professional spoken word artist Jesse Oliver for the Australian Poetry Slam on August 31 from 2-4pm.
Following the wordshop, the Queanbeyan Australian Poetry Slam Heat will be at 146 Monaro St, Queanbeyan from 6pm.
Emergency services road rule
Transport for NSW are advising that a new road rule regarding emergency vehicles is coming into effect in NSW from September 1.
The rule requires drivers to slow down to 40km/h when passing emergency vehicles that are stationary on the road and displaying blue or red flashing lights.
The rule applies for NSW Police Force, Ambulance Service of NSW, Fire & Rescue NSW, State Emergency Service, Rural Fire Service, Volunteer Rescue Association and Transport Emergency Response vehicles.
The rule will trialed for 12 months.
