Sometimes, when you're flicking through someone's old stuff at a garage sale, you stumble across a piece of priceless paraphernalia.
Like this postcard 'set' from 1979 (okay we're struggling with the year - can anyone help?) of the lush, no-expense-spared Queanbeyan Leagues Club.
It was a new era for the Monaro Street club, which was rebuilt after burning to the ground in December 1972.
Apparently, a foldey-out postcard was all the rage in the 1970s, with seven or eight different photos folding out to give you the full destination experience. In this case, the postcards range from the main foyer to the 'mixed lounge'.
Check out the row upon row of 'one-armed bandits' (poker machines) and the indoor plant garden and modern stairs up to the Oval Room. And how about the Oval Room, which drew music acts from all around the country and later became Raiders Nightclub.
Enjoy these old pics of the Queanbeyan Leagues Club and if you have any of your own old pics, we'd love to see them!
