That was the plea put out by the Queanbeyan police after another spate of thefts from vehicles earlier this week.
“It appears the thieves gained access to the majority of vehicles through unlocked doors and were able to steal loose change, wallets and personal items,” the spokesman said.
Following a series of similar incidences, police are urging residents to always do the following:
- Do not leave valuables inside your vehicle when the vehicle is not in use.
- Secure your vehicle every time you leave your vehicle unattended.
- Secure your trailer with a coupling lock or wheel clamp.
- Secure your house, including windows, when you leave your premises or retire for the evening (this includes your garage and sheds)
- Do NOT leave car and house keys in a visible or easily accessible place within your house.
Report any suspicious activity as it is occurring to your local Police station or Queanbeyan Police on 62980555.
“See something? Say something!”
“You are our extra pair of eyes and ears and you may have a small piece of valuable information that will lead to the arrest of an offender,” the police spokesman said.
