U2
Scepticism prevailed that U2’s new album may fail to peak the kind of average Songs of Innocence.

U2’s last album was competent, but kind of boring and running through the motions. But Bono, Clayton, the Edge, and Mullin Jnr seem renewed in spirit and the songs stick together quite well.
The psychedelia of Summer of Love is restrained but powerful and the driving rock of You're the Best Thing About Me is a sign that U2 has regained its pop powers back (some would argue they never lost it!).
The swagger and edge of prior U2 songs like The Fly and Even Better than the Real Thing, return in the electro-fuelled rock of The Blackout and Kendrick Lamar lends his rapping skills to the gospel inspired American Soul.
Songs of Experience sure sounds like a band mixing it up and managing to find their stride again, happy in the knowledge they can still deliver great songs that mean so much to so many.
