- While it is too late to plant daffodils and tulips to flower in spring 2017, arm yourself with a writing pad and make a note of the named varieties that appeal, whether for shape, colour or size. Look up online bulb sellers or specialist nurseries and remember to place an order in February.
- No garden plot to grow salad greens? Then ask your local green grocer for a polystyrene box. Cover the holes in the base with a piece of sarlon or newspaper; add quality potting mix; sow seeds of leafy greens like mesclun. rocket, chives, silver beet, and bok choi and you will have leaves to harvest within weeks.
