The Karabar resident has served with the Royal Australian Air Force for 20 years, completing two tours of the Middle East.
Now he's trying his hand at a different type of leadership, aiming for a spot on Queanbeyan-Palerang Council.
Mr Kingston-Lee is running in the election on September 9 as part of the Liberal Party’s ticket, the first time the party has run an official ticket in the council poll.
The candidate said he’s looking forward to the opportunity to vye for one of the council’s 11 positions.
“I’m very proud to have been selected by the party to represent it to the place I love the most,” he said.
"I am looking forward to getting to know the people and issues that are most important.”
Originally hailing from Tumut, Mr Kingston-Lee moved back to Jerrabomberra in 2009 following his tours with the air force.
He said he is looking forward to putting the ‘region on the map’ for investment and small business as part of his pitch to voters.
“I’m looking forward...to be part of the team to continue the development, growth and prosperity of the region,” Mr Kingston-Lee said.
During his time outside of the air force, he worked as a management consultant of a business in Hume, before returning to the air force at the beginning of 2017.
He also helped to start an advice blog for parents called The Dad Project, which has been running since the beginning of the year.
