A Queanbeyan man was convicted on child pornography charges but won’t face any jail time following an elaborate investigation by the Australian Federal Police.

Robert Bruce Trewin, 56, was sentenced in the Queanbeyan District Court on June 6 for accessing and possessing child pornography.
Trewin was given a 12 months suspended sentence for his accessing child pornography conviction, and six months suspended sentence for its possession.
Court documents tendered in court said the police set up a fake account on an online file sharing site and made contact with Trewin’s account.
Police then downloaded 19 files from the accused, including child pornography in April last year.
A later search of Trewin’s home found him in possession of child pornography and he was arrested in July last year.
According to police documents, in an interview with police, Trewin admitted to being sexually attracted to children and preferred porn involving girls between 12 and 13 years old.
Trewin was found in possession of five photos of children and one video involving non-penetrative sexual activity between at least one child and one adult.
He said he would search for sexually explicit content involving pre-teens and would then delete the files out of guilt.
