The digital economy and smart community strategy will form part of the plan to transform the CBD.
Queanbeyan-Palerang Regional Council plan to build a smart hub in the city to allow residents to work remotely and boost the local economy.
The council’s economic development and business liaison Martin Darcy said the digital focus could improve amenities such as public lighting, parking and security, while also allowing council to get immediate feedback from residents.
“Adopting a smart city agenda and implementing required infrastructure and services will considerably help reposition Queanbeyan and all of Queanbeyan-Palerang region as a progressive and innovative place to live and work,” he said.
“The Digital Economy and Smart Community Strategy will help us prioritise the projects and service delivery that will benefit the community the most.
“With the rate of advancement in this area, the Strategy will be constantly reviewed to reflect this progress and recommend relevant changes.”
