- Cabbage aphids can be a problem on all kinds of brassicas including turnips. Left untouched these light grayish-green sap-sucking pests are usually the cause of yellowing, wilting and stunting of plants. Use a gloved hand to squash clusters along stems and/or spray with soapy water or Yates Nature’s Way Vegie and Herb Spray.
- Plant out the last of the tulips and Dutch hyacinths as well as anemones and ranunculus, making surethat the points of anemones corms point downwards, as should the claws on ranunculus tubers.
- Double dig the plot if you are preparing for future plantings of asparagus crowns or rhubarb. Both plants are gross feeders and will require generously incorporated helpings of well made compost and manure.
- Help create quality juicy citrus fruit that will mature in late autumn and early winter with weekly feeds of Yates Thrive Cirtrus liquid plant food. Simply dilute two capsful into a 9L watering can and apply over the root zone.
