Police were called to the community centre at around 9.30pm and were confronted by a crowd of more than 300 people.
A statement released on the police station’s Facebook page said the group of teenagers and young adults were “drunken” and “obnoxious”.
It is alleged a man from Richardson in the ACT hired out the venue for a private work function, but police said the party organisers provided false information to the council and planned an illegal party.
The organisers are also believed to have charged party-goers an entry fee.
“One 18 year old man was taken to the Canberra Hospital after suffering a serious facial laceration,” the statement read.
“It took a number of hours to quell the situation and move the party-goers on, many of whom were abusive and non-compliant with police.”
Two party-goers, one 17 and the other 18, then allegedly broke into a house in the area and stole two mountain bikes and other items.
One of the teens was believed to be caught with a knife – both have been charged and will face court.
“We are absolutely disgusted in the behaviour of the event organisers and those people present and the level of disrespect they displayed towards police and to local residents,” the police statement said.
Investigations are ongoing and anyone with information is urged to contact Queanbeyan Police on 6298 0514 or Crimestoppers on 1800 333 000.
