The donation, declared at the council’s Wednesday meeting, has pushed total donations above $50,000 since the fund was established on Saturday.
The owners of properties damaged or destroyed in the fires will be able to apply for rates to be postponed, while the council also announced it would meet any waste charge costs until a replacement dwelling was built.
Development application fees to replace destroyed properties would also be met, as would the waste disposal charge at the Bungendore tip to dump debris for the next two months.
“The community has really pulled together to support victims of the devastating fire last Friday,” administrator Tim Overall said.
“Council is now doing what we can to enable these residents to bounce back and the support the appeal has received so far has been brilliant.”
The council has begun to establish a panel to administer the distribution of appeal funds.
To give to the Carwoola Bushfire Appeal a direct deposit can be made by transferring into BSB: 032724, Account Number: 362257. Donations can also be made in person at Westpac branches.
