The grand finals were played in weather which was a stark contrast from last week’s games, which were almost called off as a result of the rain.

In the end, the division one game was won by the Waratahs, who defeated Sunrise.

Division two was the opposite, where Sunrise defeated the Waratahs.

In division three, the Bungendore team defeated the Royals, and in division four Sunrise took the win over the Royals.

Queanbeyan Netball Association spokeswoman Kelly Lolesio said she was proud of all teams who played on Saturday.

“It was a very successful season,” Ms Lolesio said.

“It was sent off on a good note with good netball and good weather.”

The netballers had a few weeks break before going out to play again for the representative team trials at the end of September.

“For our winter competition, it is now over and it wont start again until April next year,” Ms Lolesio said.

“It was a good season, a wet season but we’ve still been able to keep the competition running.”

Of the junior grand final games, Ms Lolesio said she saw some exceptional skills on the court.

“Our top teams, the cadets, there was only one point difference, it was close as close all the way through,” she said.

“Good weather brought out good netball, and there was plenty of supporters.”

She said the efficient and balanced work of the umpires did not go unnoticed on grand final day. 

“We brought two young but experienced girls across from Canberra to join us for the day, who were not affiliated with Queanbeyan, but all of the umpires did an exceptional job.”

Presentations for each team were held straight after the last game on Saturday, where the Most Valuable Players were named. 

Farah Marlot, Belinda Sutton, Mel Meggitt and Chrisie Barbous were named MVP for each of the top divisions respectively.
