The prickly Australian native made its way from the garden into their backroom which prompted the couple to get their grandchildren around for look. Joy, from Singleton, says this the second time they have shared the company of the species.
“One night the dogs would not stop barking and we came out the back to find one,” she explains. But this is time around the couple had the chance show the unusual animal to four of their gorgeous grandchildren.
Their grandson, Knox Blair-Dermody was a little unsure and says it is the first time he has seen one up close.
The echidna encounter is certainly not the first time people have shared close quarters with wild animals.
- There was a koala on a couch in Port Stephens recently.
- There was the time a Bega woman found a snake in her recliner.
- And the giant goanna that laid out a grand welcome.
- Nor can we can’t forget the seagull in a hurry for some curry.
- But Ramsay has nothing on this kitchen nightmare.
- Finally, there’s the Raymond Terrace couple shut out of their bathroom by a tiger quoll.
