Queanbeyan's resident snooker star, Theresa Whitten, has booked herself another world championships berth, set to fly out to Egypt for the 2016 IBSF 6-Red Championships in Sharm-El-Sheikh between July 20 and 30.

It is the second time on the world stage for Whitten, who will return to Egypt following her round-of-16 performance in the IBSF World Championships at Hurghada in November last year.
This time, the nationally ranked number two of Australian women's snooker will be competing on the opposite side of the Red Sea and in the short-form version of the game she knows so well.
"6-Red is when you use six balls instead of 15, which is the traditional form of the game," Whitten said.
"The rules are slightly different but much the same besides a few little tweaks."
"For example, if someone snookers you, you have to attempt to hit the ball and if you don't, your opponent can put you back and make you try again. If you do that five times, then they're allowed to have a ball in hand anywhere on the table."
Whitten will again be competing in an international championship at a seaside resort and following on from the positive experience at last years worlds, the Queanbeyan native is keenly looking towards her fly-out date and the opportunity to see another part of Egypt.
"Egyptians are really good, hospitable, people and they want to make people feel welcome," she said.
"I'm very excited to go back."
