There were eight fatalities on NSW roads in four days and police are asking motorists to drive safely. Fatal crashes occurred at Sutton Forest, Peat’s Ridge near Gosford, Tomago near Port Stephens and Sydney suburbs Barden Ridge and Burwood. There were also two fatal motorcycle crashes at Burraway near Bowral and in Marsfield in Sydney.
“Each time we drive, we have choices to make in terms of how fast that vehicle is travelling, whether you are under the influence of alcohol or have used drugs when you take control of the vehicle and ensuring all of your passengers are properly restrained,” Traffic and Highway Patrol Command’s assistant commissioner John Hartley said
“The NSW annual road toll stands at 152, which is 34 more than this time last year.”
Bungendore Neighbourhood Watch
A meeting is planned for residents at Bungendore on Monday, May 23, 2016 to discuss the formation of a Neighbourhood Watch scheme. All residents are welcome.
Keep cars locked
Monaro LAC advised people to be mindful when leaving cars parked in public areas or in their driveways to lock the vehicles and ensure that there are no valuables left in the vehicle, or if they must be left in them, at least out of sight. Police do get reports of items or cash being stolen out of unattended vehicles.
When leaving your vehicle in public areas, or in your driveway, make sure it is locked. Even more important now that some cars are push button start, ensure that you take the key with you.
