I have been very concerned about the news that the Chronicle and the Queanbeyan Age are going to merge.

I remember years gone by when the Queanbeyan Age was a thriving local newspaper that everyone would read.
It came out three times a week and you could buy it at the local newsagent and local shop.
With the reduction of the paper to once a week it is hard to keep up to date with what is going on in Queanbeyan.
I buy the Queanbeyan Age religiously for that reason, keeping up to date with what's going on in the town in all aspects of life from obituaries notices, birth notices, what's going on with the out of control people in our society, sporting events and results, seeing the locals out and about and proposed developments and people in our township doing and achieving extraordinary things, and also the pets that are lost or need a home.
It is an important part of our life structure. We all need to be kept informed about what's going on in our town and we need the Queanbeyan Age to survive!
Let's hope we see many more years of the Age.
