Queanbeyan residents felt both the initial impact and subsequent aftershock of a magnitude 3.2 earthquake which hit near Wee Jasper at 4.03pm this afternoon.

By 4.08pm, Geoscience duty seismologist Emma Mathews had received her first "felt report" and it was from Queanbeyan.
"We have received more than one hundred felt reports in the past hour and they come from all over Canberra and the surrounding area," Ms Mathews said.
"Residents in Dunlop, Latham and Fraser reported minor shaking, while calls continued to come from Yass, Gungahlin, and Tuggeranong, with my first call coming in from Queanbeyan at 4.08pm."
Ms Mathews said that some regions in Australia were more susceptible to seismic activity, and the local area fell into that category.
"The south-eastern part of NSW, including Canberra, experiences frequent seismic activity," she said.
Wee Jasper was last hit by an earthquake in 2012, which measured in at a reasonable 3.7 on the richter scale.
No damage is expected to have been inflicted by an earthquake of this magnitude.
