The Queanbeyan State Emergency Service has issued a reminder to all residents to call them if assistance is required during storms or floods.

This comes after volunteers in the SES were told of residents who were in need of help, but who did not want to "disturb" the service.
Public information officer Brent Hunter said the service is there so homeowners or tenants don't have to put themselves in danger.
While they've been busy in recent weeks with severe weather events both in Queanbeyan and helping across the border in Canberra, the SES volunteers are available at any time of the day or night to assist.
"In the recent weeks we have heard stories of Queanbeyan residents who required assistance but didn’t call 132 500 in the fear of disturbing our volunteers.
"Members of the public should not feel that they can’t call the SES when they require our assistance."
The free-of-charge service is funded by the NSW government to ensure highly trained volunteers can help out residents in trouble.
"We come to your home or business and conduct emergency temporary repairs until insurance or a qualified tradesperson can make permanent repairs," Mr Hunter said.
The Queanbeyan SES did not receive any calls for assistance during the Australia Day storms locally but were requested to assist the ACT State Emergency Service who received over 500 calls for assistance.

The Queanbeyan SES unit has close to 100 active members who specialise in storm and water damage repairs. Specialist rescue roles include vertical rescue, swift water (flood) rescue and alpine search and rescue.
