The day will involve the presentation of citizen and young citizen of the year awards, free rides and activities for children, live band Something Like This from 6pm and a spectacular fireworks display at 9pm.
Enjoy free face painting, a merry-go-round and a jumping castle for the kids, as well as free tea, coffee, cordial and fruit.
This year Queanbeyan's Australia Day Ambassador is A J (Jim) Molan AO DSC Major General (retired).
The wet weather venue for the Citizenship ceremony is Queanbeyan Bicentennial Hall.
To start your day off early, Queanbeyan's pubs and hotels have the following offerings.
Enjoy yabby races at Walsh's Hotel from 12.30pm.
The popular event began last year and crowds of people turned out to watch. Publican Trent Miller said the races pull a crowd because they're always so unpredictable, and it's a very Australian sport.
The races cost $10 to enter (the day is raising money for Treehouse - (Queanbeyan children with special needs) and you can choose a yabby or bring your own.
The Cup Race will begin at 4pm. Walsh's will also be hosting an Aussie barbecue and blasting the triple j Hottest 100.
The Jerrabomberra Hotel will also be hosting an Aussie barbecue and playing the triple J Hottest 100.
Happy hour is from 5-6pm, and there is a prize for best dressed.
The Tourist Hotel has lunch and dinner specials on for the day.
The Royal Hotel will be hosting a relaxing afternoon playing the triple j Hottest 100, watching Australian Open and the cricket, face painting for the kids and masseurs doing the rounds for patrons.
If you're a fan of Twitter you can celebrate Australia Day this year with a new emoji.
For the first time, tweets carrying the hashtag #AustraliaDay will also automatically include the very Australian symbol of a koala wearing green and gold sunglasses.
In what has become an annual showcase of how Australians spend Australia Day, the National Australia Day Council, the National Museum of Australia and Twitter Australia will again gather together Twitter messages and photos for a live digital exhibition hosted by the National Museum on 26 January 2016.
